How it works
Eight minutes, start to finish.
Most DSE tools are a tick-box exercise nobody reads. This one asks how you really work, then tells you what to change.
- 01
You get a link
By email, from us or from your employer. No app, no password, no account to set up. The link signs you in and drops you straight into the assessment.
Works on a phone, which is where most people do it.
- 02
You answer questions about your setup
12 short sections covering your screen, keyboard, mouse, desk, chair, environment, laptop use and how the work is organised. Questions that do not apply to you are skipped.
Answers save as you go, so you can stop and come back.
- 03
You talk, if typing is a pain
Anywhere we ask for more than a tap there is a record button. Say what you want, and we turn it into text for your report.
Useful when the thing being assessed is a sore wrist.
- 04
You add a photo, or you do not
Three optional photos: side-on at your desk, the desk from where you sit, and the space underneath. We review them for things a questionnaire cannot see, like how far you reach for the mouse.
Every photo is optional and none is needed to finish.
- 05
You get a report you can act on
A risk rating, findings ranked by priority, and a specific action for each one. Equipment is suggested only where equipment is the answer.
On screen, emailed to you, and downloadable as a PDF.
The 12 sections
Between them these cover everything the Health and Safety (Display Screen Equipment) Regulations 1992 require an assessment to look at.
01 About you and your work
A few details so the questions match how you actually work.
02 Health and comfort
Discomfort is the earliest warning sign that something needs changing. Nothing here is shared without your knowledge.
03 Your display screen
Screen height, distance and clarity drive most neck and eye complaints.
04 Keyboard
The keyboard should let your wrists stay straight and your shoulders relaxed.
05 Mouse and input devices
Where your hand sits and how far it reaches matters more than the device itself.
06 Desk and work surface
Enough clear space, at the right height, with room for your legs.
07 Chair and posture
An adjustable chair makes more difference to back and shoulder comfort than anything else.
08 Your environment
Light, noise, temperature and space all feed into how comfortable a full day feels.
09 Laptops and mobile working
Laptops are a compromise by design. The screen and the keyboard cannot both be in the right place.
10 Software and how the work is organised
The regulations cover the software you use and how the job is organised, as well as the furniture.
11 Photos of your workspace
Optional, but a photo shows us things a questionnaire cannot. Nothing is shared beyond your assessment.
12 Anything else
Your own words carry weight in the report. Say as much or as little as you like.
How the findings are decided
Every finding comes from a fixed rule set applied to your answers. The same answers always produce the same findings, and each one traces back to a specific requirement or a recognised risk factor. That matters for a compliance record: it is auditable, and it does not drift.
We use a language model for three narrower jobs: turning voice notes into text, describing what is visible in a photo you upload, and writing the plain English summary around the findings. It never decides your risk rating, and it cannot add or remove a finding.
